Hello and welcome to my blog today!
This is my second post for the June Challenge over at Country View Challenges. This month´s theme is "It´s a bugs life". I have chosen to use a butterfly again.
This is the reference photo, I found on Pinterest

This is what I did:
I´m sorry, I only made this only one photo while creating.
I started by glueing down some pieces of old book pages and a lot of washi tape stripes from Tim Holtz. The washi tape fits perfect for the challenge theme - there are many butterflies and moths on it! After that I painted the pages with watered down white Gesso and added white crackle paint on random parts.
After everything was dry, I started to sketch the face with a HB pencil. I darkened some parts with brown ink and brown stabilo all and brown charcoal and black stabilo all and black charcoal and brown and black Inktense pencils....., lightend other parts with white charcoal pencil, white Inktense pencil and white stabilo all, ......... and set highlight with a white posca pen - well I fiddled around for days. It was really a challenge and I was struggling with some parts of the face, e. g. the mouth and the nose.
But I am pretty satisfied with the result 😊.
Next I stamped some background stamps from LaBlanche with black ink, very subtile only.
Now I wanted to add some color - not too much, only a hint of color, very gently. I used acrylic paint in a yummy violet, getting a gorgeous magenta when watered down and a green metalic paint from finnabair.
The lovely butterfly is from Rubber Dance, he is stamped with black ink and colored with the same colors I used for the background. Here I used a bit more color.
The words are from the same stamp set. I also stamped them with black ink and cut them out.
I was missing a little something, so I put modeling paste through a stencil from AAl & Create and when the paste was dry, I painted it with brown acrylic paint.
I glued all down, framed the words and shaded the butterfly. Then I made some splatters with black, white, green and violet paint and colored the edges of the page with brown stabilo all to frame the pages. The last thing I did, I made some clear drops with a pearl pen - and that´s it!
Now I hope you like my journal pages as much as I do!
Oh, and don´t forget to join in with our challenge! There is enough time left!
Thank you so much for your visit today!
