Summertime, and the living is easy.....

First of August means a brand new challenge over at Country View Challenges, this time with the fitting theme "Hot Summer Days" !
August means holidays, hot and sunny days, bright flowers, butterflies and bees, swimming in lakes or the sea, chilly times and fun, being outdoors and having fun!

I´ve made a little canvas using bright colors.

 
Here a little step x step:

I used a little canvas, only 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inch). This size is fun to work on, you can create some quick projects, trying out new mediums and techniques!

First step was to prime the canvas with a coat of Gesso.

Now I took my new DecoArt liquid acrylic paints and DecoArt Tinting Base - I never used it before and I wanted to see, how it works. It brightens the colors and makes them more opaque. I think, it needs some practice, but I like it even now!

My next step was to take some stamps and embossing powder. I stamped the images with Versa Mark on my canvas and heat embossed them.

Next I painted some paper with the same colors I used on the canvas and stamped and embossed some butterflies.

Well, they didn´t turn out that pretty I expected, but I decided to use them nevertheless. I fuzzy cut them and glued them on top of the gras and the butterfly on the canvas.

I added some doodling with a black brushmarker and a white acrylic marker.

For a little bling I dipped some stickles glitter on the butterfly wings and the wings of the bee. Unfortunately you can´t see the pretty shimmer on the photos.

Now I added a sentiment from Tim Holtz´s Small Talk stickers

some more doodling and that´s it!

I had much fun making this little canvas! May be you´ll try to do one by yourself, it´s a great way to play around with new techniques or materials!
