Hello all and a warm welcome to my blog!
Today I want to share with you a double spreat page in my new big Art Journal.
I made it for Country View Challenges to give you another inspiration for our Challenge "Hot Summer Days". Below you find some step x step tutorial to show you, how I made it.
So have fun watching it and may be you´ll find time to join in, you can win a £ 20 voucher! There are some days left!
I started with a page, on which I had brayered some left over paints from a project, I did short time ago (you will see this next month ;-) ).
I prepared the pages with some white Gesso first.
For the right summer feeling I think there must be some roses. So I took the upper layer of a napkin, tore it apart and glued the parts down.
Now I painted the white space with the same colors, I used at the beginning......
.... followed by some stenciling with Archival Inks.
I prepared some parts for stamping with white Gesso and stamped two images from LaBlanche on top. Later I decided, I want only to use one of them and painted over the other one. Being not that happy with, I also stamped the one, I wanted to stay, later onto an extra paper to make it more visible. The stamped image I colored with Distress Inks.
Now I did some background stamping with Archival Ink in olive. The stamp is from LaBlanche too.
To get even more into this summer feeling, I wrote a poem, called "summer", on the background. Well, later it will not be very much visible, but I liked it very much. Sorry, I didn´t translate it, so, my English speaking friends, you might try to translate it with the help of "Aunt Google". ;-)
Im Sommer
Dünnbesiedelt das Land.
Trotz riesigen Feldern und Maschinen
liegen die Dörfer schläfrig
in Buchsbaumgärten;
die Katzen trifft selten ein Steinwurf.
Im August fallen Sterne.
Im September bläst man die Jagd an.
Noch fliegt die Graugans, spaziert der Storch
durch unvergiftete Wiesen.
Ach, die Wolken -
wie Berge fliegen sie über die Wälder.
Wenn man hier keine Zeitung hält
ist die Welt in Ordnung.
In Pflaumenmuskesseln
spiegelt sich schön das eigne Gesicht und
feuerrot leuchten die Felder.
(Sarah Kirsch)
In the next step I used a brick wall stencil with Archival Ink Potting Soil....
...and some stone paste, I have for ages in my stash
Then I die cut leaves with the "spring greenery" die from Tim Holtz, grabed several of my green mists to color them and left them to dry.
Meanwhile I wrote my words with a black marker, surrounded them with a white one, cut them out and distressed the edges. To make them fit better, I colored the white background with DI spun sugar.
Then I put everything in place and glued all down.
Some final steps later (setting highlights with acrylic paint, spritzing deluted white Gesso, painting the middle of the leaves) my page was ready!

Last I want to show you some garden impressions of my little (I admit a little wild) garden. It was such a wonderful sunny day with a lighning blue sky, I wanted to show you.
Eine der unzähligen Blüten eines meiner Eibisch Sträucher. Ich liebe sie, sie blühen so wunderbar!
One blossom of one of my hibiscus bushes. They are blooming so wonderful!
So, das wars für heute. Vielen Dank, dass ihr bei mir hereingeschaut habt und ich freue mich sehr über eure Kommentare!
That´s it for today. Thank you for stopping by here and your lovely comments are always appreciated!
