Flower Birthday Card for CVC

Hello dear visitors!

I hope you had a beautiful May so far. Temperatures are slowly getting higher and more and more flowers start growing and blooming.

So I decided to make a flower card for my second take on the May Challenge at Country View Challenges.
And as the theme this month is "Opposites", I chose huge and tiny.

I started to create my background. First I picked DecoArt acrylic paints in different shades of pink and spread them on the watercolor paper. I made sure to vary the light and darker colors for more interest. When I was happy with the result, I took the tiny little flower stamps from the PaperArtsy stamp set Eclectika EEG22 by Emma Godfrey and stamped them randomly to the background. I used Archival ink Cactus Flower and Plum.

To make my focal point stand out more, I took DecoArt acrylic paint Buttermilk and painted a thin layer where I wanted to stamp them flower and the stamen.

For my focal point I took one of the lovely stamps from the stamp set STAMPBM27 from art by marlene I bought a while ago. I used my Tim Holtz stamping platform, stamped the flower with black Archival Ink and, when dry, I colored the flower with DecoArt acrylic paints in different shades of pink and purple. For some shades I used teal.

I left my stamp on the platform while coloring. That´s important, because acrylic paints are not translucent and you will loose some of the lines and details of your stamp. By leaving the stamp in place, you can stamp again your image onto the colored pic as often as needed and you will always hit exactly the same place again!

I accentuated parts of the flower with black and white posca pen and surrounded the flower white to make it stand out even more. Last I created some shading with a black charcoal pencil.

I really liked the result!

As it is a birthday card, I added stamped wishes. I wanted to merge the words with the background, so I stamped it on vellum and heat embossed the sentiment. Then I teared the paper and glued it with Matte Medium to the card.

At last I sprinkled watered down acrylic paint in black, white and teal on top, framed everything with Archival ink in Plum and glued the picture onto a card.

A Vintage Christmas Card

Hello dear visitor, a warm welcome to my blog!

First of December and only 3 weeks until it´s christmas! It´s christmas time at Country View Challenges too, we want to see your christmas makes this month.

I made a card with this wonderful vintage angel I had in my stash.

For me at christmas time glitter and gold is a must. I love the shimmer and shine, it enhances the magic of this time.

I took the vintag picture, matted it with red cardstock and golden glitter paper. I only let peek out a tiny little bit around the edges. At the bottom I glued a pearl lace for even more shine.

For the background I cut a christmas paper, designed by Astrid Maclean some years ago, to size, distressed the eges with Distress Oxide walnut stain and matted it with the glitterpaper before I glued it onto a card.

Now to my decoration:

I diecut snowflakes and a snowflake edge from white cardstock and toned it down with some Distress Ink antique linen. Now I wanted to go for a frosty look, smeared on top of the snowflake edge some Matte Medium and sprinkled on top of it crystal snow (I don´t know how it is called exactly). I thought, the edge will be seen on both sides, so I will treat the back equal. Not not my best idea! It got too heavy weight, it folded down. So I ripped off the biggest snowflake and added a smaller one, I added the glitter with a wink of stella brush pen. Way better!
The diecut snowflakes I treated the same way, but I glittered them only with the glitter brush pen.

I glued some fabric under the picture and framed the angel with snowflakes and some little snowballs, made of styrofoam balls, coated with fake snow.

A while ago I bought some flower dies for small flowers and made some poinsettias. One of them I used for my card.

To embed the poinsettia I diecut some twigs from the Tim Holtz Holiday Greens Thinlits die cut set and toned them down with Distress Oxides walnut stain. Some feathers and snowballs completed the arrangement.

The German text stamp says: "The magic of christmas" and was stamped with DO walnut stain too.

Layout "Make a Wish" - DT project for ARTastic

Hello everybody, nice to have you here!

Today I want to share my layout for the November Challenge over at ARTastic challenge blog with you.

This month the inspiration comes from  Poncho Army  and is called Landing. The CRITERIA is: Use a BLACK background.

I was inspired by the bold colors of the bird and used the blue of him on the background and, fitting to my photo, pink.

Here are some steps:

First I brayered acrylic paints in blue tones and pink tones on the background. Then I did some stamping and heat embossed them with EP in white, pink and blue-green (not very much visible, but it gives a wonderful shimmer =) ). Then I stamped some more patterns with Distress Oxides and Archival ink in blue (again hard to see ;-) )

Now I layered my photo with cardstock in blue and pink and distressed pieces of gauze. To make them more matching I colored them with some pink mist.

Next I heat embossed some chipboard pieces with pink and cranberry embossing powder. 

Then I put everything together, added a stamped sentiment and some flowers - and that´s it!

Altered stand - DT work for ARTastic

Hello all,

for my second post today I want to show you my take on the ARTastic June challenge. This time I made an altered stand.

The beautiful picture for inspiration this month is from Ethel Spowers - The Kite and the

CRITERIA - VINTAGE style OR featuring CHILDREN (or for an extra challenge combine both).

Well, I combinde both and the muted colors are good for some extra inspiration =).

This is what I did:

I bought this little stand in a dollar store. It was a little bit broken and I only payed 0,10€, what means nearly nothing!

I sanded the broken edges and painted them with white acrylic paint. Then I only covered the whole piece with some iridecent pearl acrylic paint in green/gold from pentart - it gives an amazing shimmer! Then I added some Lasur gel to tone it down a little bit and to add a vintage look. 

For the decoration I matted a vintage picture and framed it. I glued down some small branches, some chipboards, fibres, moss and small flowers for embellishing - that´s all!

Feminin Card - DT work for Country View Challenges

today I want to share my second take on this month´s challenge "Flower Power" over at Country View Challenges!

This time I made a very feminin card - and what would be a female card without flowers!

There are so many wonderful flowers on the market and I decided to use some of them on my card.

By adding flowers, you always can pimp your artwork - real flower power! ;-)

Hallo liebe Blogfreunde,

heute möchte ich meine zweite Arbeit für diesen Monat für die Herausforderung "Flower Power" bei Country View Challenges vorstellen.

Diesmal habe ich eine sehr feminine Karte gemacht - und was wäre eine Karte ohne Blumen!

Es gibt so viele wunderschöne Blumen zu kaufen und ich habe beschlossen, einige davon auf meiner Karte zu verwenden.

Mit Blumen kann man einfach jedes Kunstwerk aufwerten - absolute "Flower Power"! ;-)

And this is what I did:

Und so wird´s gemacht:

First I gathered all papers I needed, cut it into size and matted my picture with black cardstock.
Zuerst habe ich alle Papiere, die ich verwenden wollte, zusammengesucht, zugeschnitten und mein Bild mit schwarzem Tonpapier hinterlegt.

I also gathered the embellishments I wanted to use together with a stencil and some modeling paste.
Danach habe ich alle Verzierungen, eine Schablone und Modellierpaste bereit gestellt.

First I put the modelling paste through a stencil (13@rts) on top of the paper.

Zuerst kam Modellierpaste durch eine Schablone (13@rts) auf das Papier.

Now I distressed the edges and colored them with DI peacock feathers. Then I glued down all the embellishments and my picture.

Danach habe ich die Ränder aufgerauht und mit DI peacock feathers eingefärbt. Im Anschluss habe ich alle Verzierungen und das Bild aufgeklebt.

I sprinkled white Gesso on top and now  - Flower Power! Can you see, how these three flowers pimp the card? 

Nun noch ein paar Spritzer weißes Gesso oben auf und dann - Flower Power! Seht ihr, wie so ein paar Blümchen die ganze Karte aufpimpen?

Flowers! - DT work for Country View Challenges

Hello my dear blogfriends and a warm welcome to my new followers, I´m happy to have you here! 

First of May means a new challenge over at Country View Challenges and this time the theme is "Flower Power", hosted by my lovely team mate Monika!

Spring is in full flow and summer around the corner - so this is a perfect theme!

I decided to make a birthday card with my new PaperArtsy stamps. I wanted a happy and bright card and these stamps are perfect for it!

Hallo zusammen, schön, dass ihr bei mir hereinschaut!

Herzlich willkommen auf meinen neuen Followers, ich freue mich riesig, dass ihr mit dabei seid!

Heute ist der erste Mai und das bedeutet eine neue Herausforderung bei Country View Challenges. Diesen Monat ist das Thema "Flower Power", ausgesucht von meiner lieben Team Kollegin Monika!

Der Frühling ist in vollem Gange und der Sommer schaut schon um die Ecke - das Thema ist also perfekt!

Ich habe eine Geburtstagskarte gemacht und dazu meine neuen PaperArtsy Stempel benutzt. Nachdem die Karte richtig bunt und fröhlich sein sollte, sind diese Stempel absolut perfekt dafür!

Now I want to show you, what I did:

 Und so habe ichs gemacht:

For the background I used my Distress Oxides. Who didn´t use them yet - you must try them out! They are so fun to use!

Für den Hintergrund habe ich meine Distress Oxides benutzt. Wer sie bisher noch nicht ausprobiert hat - die müsst ihr testen, die machen so viel Spaß!

First I put the ink pads directly randomly on my paper, then spritzed with water and turned the paper to let the ink run. Then I dabbed with a baby wipe some of the ink off, Then I dried it with a heating tool. You can add more colors on top until you are satisfied with the result.

Als erstes habe ich die Stempelkissen direkt willkürlich auf das Papier gedrückt, mit Wasser eingesprüht und ein wenig bewegt um die Farbe zu verteilen. Danach habe ich mit einem Baby Feucht Tuch ein wenig von der Farbe wieder abgetupft. Danach mit dem Heißföhn trocknen und den Vorgang so oft wiederholen, bis man mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden ist.

Now to another fun part. I added water droplets, waited a little bit and removed the water with a paper towel. Then I dried it again. I repeated this several times. It looks so great, doesn´t it!

Der nächste Schritt hat besonders viel Spaß gemacht. Ich habe einige Wassertropfen auf die Oberfläche getröpfelt, ein wenig gewartet und mit einem Tuch das Wasser abgetupft und getrocknet. Das habe ich ein paar Mal gemacht,Das sieht doch klasse aus, oder!

For even more interest I stamped the flowers in several colours with distress ink on top.

Als nächstes habe ich die Blumen in verschiedenen Farben mit Archival Ink gestempelt.

Then I stamped the flowers with the stems on white watercolor paper and colored them with Faber Castell Polychromos, fuzzy cut them and glued some of them onto my card.

Die Blumen mit den Stängeln habe ich danach auf Aquarellpapier gestempelt, mit Faber Castell Polychromos, alle ausgeschnitten und einige davon auf meine Karte geklebt.

To make them more stand out, I surrounded them with a black Acrylic marker.

Damit sie ein wenig mehr in den Vordergrund rücken, habe ich sie mit schwarzem Acrylic Marker umrandet.

The left over flowers I embossedn two times with clear embossing powder and glued them on top with foam squares.

Die restlichen Blumen habe ich zwei Mal klar embosst und mit Schaumkissen auf die Karte geklebt.

At last I did a little doodling at the edges, stamped a sentiment and glued it down - that´s it!

Am Schluss habe ich noch ein wenig den Rand verziert, ein Sprüchlein gestempelt und aufgeklebt - das war´s!
